Good Morning,
As I sit here on this beautiful morning, enjoying the view of the lake and the smell of the sea in the air, I feel inspired and motivated. I am currently at the Awesome GLS Conference in Madison, WI and I have loved every minute of it. I have not only met leading scholars in the field of games and learning, but I have listened to great, inspiring ideas, and feel intellectually stimulated by overwhelming amounts of information! As a single mom, the most intellectual conversations I often have is with a soon to be four year old. Though, they can be quite interesting and the innocence in those conversations is refreshing; every now and then, it feels great to get away to a good conference where my own ideas can flourish in great discussions with others with similar passions. The GLS community has been super welcoming and I look forward to many more years of attending GLS! Well, I must be off to enjoy a delicious breakfast and another awesome keynote speech. Today, I challenge everyone to this question... What does it mean to play? Do you often feel that as life takes over, as we get older, that we forget what it really means to take a moment to play? As my daughter asks me daily, "Mom, will you play with me outside?" Despite my many chores and responsibilities of life, I must take the time to show my daughter that PLAY is just as instrumental to life as those mundane chores that we give so much weight and time. So, today, as you ponder those questions... take a moment and PLAY! Jessica
